Champawat was a student project I produced and art directed with some talented colleagues in our second year of university.

It tells the story of Dewi an Indonesian rice merchant whose usual commercial route gets disturbed when he arrives at a misterious town that is being raided by human-eating tigers and managed by an obscure spiritual cult. Dewi is going to fight for his survival dealing with both while attending to his own identity issues.

It was a really cool project to develop since we tried a lot of new stuff for us like UV painted projections on to 3D mesh. It was actually my first attempt at matte/background painting. I’m not sure if it is going to age well but we all learned a lot from it and it will always feel like an special project for us. Here it is. I hope you like it as well!
